The Hertz Corporation Product Designer in Bannockburn, Illinois

General Responsibilities

The Hertz Corporation is dedicated to Design Thinking as our process of creative problem-solving. We are seeking a Product Designer to join the Hertz Corporation digital team at the RevLab in Bannockburn, IL. As part of our global digital team, the Product Designer uses human-centered design to connect the end user's mindset with the software product. This resource is focused on independent user research, User Interface design, solving complex business problems and contributing digital assets for the software products. The Product Designer will use Design Thinking tools to observe the end user, document the users' process, illustrate point points, use affinity mapping, and create simple, engaging customer experiences across all products.

He/She will design software features to help solve common problems and partner with the Product Manager and Technical Lead to determine how a product will look and function. This role is constantly collaborating with Product Management, UX Management, Engineering, CRM, Analytics and Technology to effectively translate business requirements into functional, achievable design that deliver on business objectives. This includes creating concepts, visual mockups and presenting prototype (InVision) with designs (Adobe XD) from the user perspective to key stake holders. This person will work independently given general directions and ensures consistent adherence to Usability Best Practices, ADA compliance, and overall Brand Guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage customers by observations or interview engagement: human-centered design tools to map a users' journey.

  • You'll apply your expertise in interactive design, visual design and prototyping, while tapping into your empathetic brain to solve complex ecommerce challenges.

  • Create wireframes, workflows, storyboards prototypes and navigation maps that deliver a seamless user experience against a clear set of customer and business goals.

  • Design layouts and UI components, such as, iconography, graphical elements and navigation tools.

  • Partner with our analytics team to understand customer behavior across the conversion funnel and other key use cases to identify opportunities to improve performance.

  • Incorporate Voice of the Customer research into the overall design process - this incudes usability testing, as well as, customer feedback data from services such as Opinion Lab and Foresee.

  • Actively participate in an agile product design and development process to drive continuous value delivery.

  • Support ongoing performance optimization through A/B testing.

  • Continuously communication between multiple stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of design objectives.

  • Create design deliverables, including all types of user experience assets, to support the development of protypes and /or production applications.

  • Occasionally, write design guidelines and documentation for use by development and other designers.

  • Understand industry, user experience, and technology trends, and promote them where relevant with the Experience Design, Business and IT groups.

  • Understands the art and science of interface design and can articulate thinking behind design decisions.

  • Capable of planning and executing User Testing, A/B testing and other forms of design optimizations. Makes regular use of them to achieve higher business performance.

Preferred Requirements

Skills:

  • 7+ years relevant product design experience.

  • A portfolio that shows expert skill in Interface Design and Interaction Design.

  • Engaged in professional organizations as a Design expert.

  • Experience designing for B2C experiences; B2B experience is a plus.

  • Capable of delivering a high volume of new designs and enhancements across multiple teams.

  • Proficiency in a diverse set of software including the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Experience Deign), Sketch, Axure, Etc. CSS/HTML is a plu.

  • UI scripting languages [HTML and JavaScript] are a plus.

  • Experience with Voice User Interface Design (VUI), for example: Alexa, Chabots is a plus
