The Hertz Corporation Director, Portfolio Management in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities

  • Manage business partner technology portfolio initiatives (projects/ventures) – management of team (project/venture managers) and processes; ensure optimized delivery of the company’s annual goals and long-term strategic mission.

  • Serve as technology business partner to cross functional stakeholders; helping to build business case/strategy and tech solution alternatives, in partnership with technology function and application owners – working with efficiency of resources as a primary goal.

  • Lead business portfolio partners in Tech Ventures Process – supporting critical thinking and planning with business and tech resource teams through our 4-phase approach to tech delivery and business value creation: Phase 0. Ideation, Phase 1. Business Case, Phase 2. Launch and Phase 3. Completion.

  • Responsible for leading, driving and the delivery of a portfolio of business initiatives that deliver revenue growth, cost savings or business risk mitigation. The Dir/ SD will partner with business team to assign tech value to business plans, and then own the delivery of value together with the business partner.

  • Provide vision, roadmap, coordination/planning, and ongoing management of cross-enterprise activities related to all initiatives in the portfolio. The Dir/SD will drive and manage multiple work streams: project/venture task interdependencies, resource capacity management, cross-program requirements, testing interdependencies, training and enterprise cross dependencies, deployment bundling/coordination and business resource dependencies.

  • Lead the project management framework and methodology for their tech portfolio of projects/ventures through prioritization and management of all projects/ventures. This leader will demonstrate great communication – verbal and written, strong influential leadership of teams, growth mindset and solutions orientation. This leader will act an intrapreneurial spirt and an orientation for problem-solving and results.

Key Result Areas:

  • Establish and maintain the methodology to be adopted and applied to each project/venture undertaken.

  • Ensure that portfolio/projects/ventures follow the established framework and methodologies to govern the end-to-end project/venture process ensuring all initiatives are aligned with strategic objectives and completed as planned.

  • Establish a portfolio/project/venture management approach commensurate with size, complexity and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure projects/ventures have sponsors with decision making authority; partnering for best investment of resources and owning the execution for enterprise strategy and value creation via the co-developed business case.

  • Influence commitment and participation from affected stakeholders.Validate each project/venture business case and scope along with business and tech partners

  • Ensure project roles and responsibilities are defined and communicated.

  • Ensure that each project accounts for risk management, quality, change control planning and documentationEnsure that project performance metrics are defined, collected, evaluated, and reported.

Mandatory Requirements

Educational Background:

MBA Preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field, Or equivalent work experience.
