The Hertz Corporation Vice President, Infrastructure & Operations in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities

The VP, IT Operations, is responsible for long-term strategies and day-to-day activities: specifically overall responsibly and accountability for infrastructure, data center, cloud operations, end-user services, field IT support and service management. This role will collaborate with IT, senior leaders and 3 rd party vendors to define strategic and tactical service level goals, related to value-add availability, capacity, security and performance of IT systems.

Key-result areas

  • Lead and prioritize IT initiatives and coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future systems as well as associated operational functions

  • Accountable for all production systems and environments, including responsibility for the overall enterprise-wide effectiveness and efficiency of data center (on premise and cloud) technology systems and networks and in ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and reliability (internal and external)

  • Ensure application development initiatives are well managed and deliver on expectations-functionality, timeliness, and cost relative to infrastructure

  • Define and document processes for deployments and system-level changes as well as the associate review process

  • Manage and negotiate business deals from all elements related to service and IT needs, including hardware, bandwidth, co-location facilities, and third party software vendors

  • Ensure management staff is sufficiently skilled and experienced to perform their tasks through continual assessment of performance and taking action to coach, correct or improve where required

  • Lead Operations staff to ensure deadlines, risks, constraints, resources, tasks, priorities and interfaces are understood and communicated

  • Serve as the business advocate within IT providing advice and counsel to leaders within specific IT disciplines that may be separated from day to day business activities

  • Manage multiple teams and multiple concurrent complex projects including the implementation and support of lower and higher environments.

  • Provide leadership in project management related to the relevant business area and provide regular and timely updates for IT related projects

  • Develop proactive operating estimates and long range forecasts for business planning purposes involving software, hardware, staffing levels, service levels, and expenditures for area(s) of responsibility.

  • Vendor relationship management.

  • Coordinate with IT executives to ensure a good understanding of Business priorities, Business drivers, and the corresponding IT needs. Drive transparency with the Business on communicating associated IT strategies, plans, portfolio, and processes.

  • Partner with key business clients, functional groups and development team to deliver against product and service goals and business requirements.

  • Ensure information security standards are met across all IT applications; ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance

  • Assess and manage IT risk, conduct regular vulnerability and independent risk assessments

  • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans meet acceptable business risk levels

  • Communicate data-management processes and protocols to all functional teams

  • Understand operational model for each cloud provider including provisioning, de-provisioning, scaling, billing, all optional services. Own the provisioning life cycle for each cloud provider.

  • Understand shared RACI between cloud and nested RACI between all Cloud Partners (Example INFOR on AWS)

  • Familiar with and support Hertz's cloud security operational guidelines.

  • Be involved in and provide guidance related to data Center deprovisioning and migration of workloads to the cloud

Mandatory Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration/Accounting, or other related field, or equivalent work experience. Prefer advanced degree

Professional Experience:

  • 15+ years IT leadership experience

  • 15+ years business operations leadership experience

  • Prior Project Management experience leading large-scale initiatives

Knowledge:

  • Must understand business to consumer markets with experience in the travel and tourism industry preferred

  • Must maintain knowledge of changing technologies

  • Experience implementing and tracking service level or metrics reporting

  • Experience developing and streamlining processes

  • Experience training non-technical users on modern software applications

  • Experience monitoring supplier contracts, specifically tracking performance toward statements of work or service descriptions

  • Prior experience providing IT support and leading a Global team across wide geographical area(s)
