The Hertz Corporation VP, Global Technology Network Services and Strategy in Estero, Florida

General Responsibilities


VP Global Network Services and Strategy is a transformational technology leader who will be responsible for network architecture, design, deployment and operation. In addition to networks, the VP Global Network Services and strategy works closely with all members of the Technology Team. In-depth knowledge of cloud, compute, storage, operating systems, and application connectivity and communications requirements is required. This position leads the architecture, design deployment and operation of new systems and re-engineering of old ones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the next generation global network design to enable cloud operations and enhanced world-wide collaboration

  • Aggregate and understands macro / micro market trends and competitive threats to drive cross-market network strategies

  • Establish consistency and clarity in network governance frameworks that advance interpersonal and organizational trust, with market flexibility and reliable performance

  • Connect across platforms to support real-time strategy refinement for both lessons learned and best practices, fueling continuous improvement in every market to ensure performance metrics

  • Directs review of current network services on an on-going basis to formulate new and revised services ensuring optimal use, capacity planning, effect improvements, reduce costs, and/or enhance efficiency

  • Be a good career coach and mentor, help network team grow to be technical leads, and guiding all others towards success

Key Activities:

  • Ensure that the network architecture and function provide the capabilities needed to meet identified business needs; own and maintain network services catalog

  • Accountability for maintaining unit costing, usage metering and uptime/availability of network services

  • Work to align resources with project needs and operational needs

  • Makes recommendations regarding continuous improvement in networking environment globally

  • Maintenance and support of all network services such as LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, firewalls and network hardware, software, and applications

  • Experience managing global cloud connectivity design/operations

  • Develop, implement and maintain network infrastructure to support high availability both on premise and in multi-vendor public clouds

  • Provide team leadership to a global network team

  • Meet regularly with partner service leaders in Compute and Storage to ensure roadmap collaboration

  • Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements to align with budget planning

  • Provide network design, security analysis/design and implementation

  • Definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research

  • Ensure up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories

  • Manage all related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc

  • Maintain partnerships with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution, new solutions, etc.

  • Provide advance notification of all planned system and network outages and set realistic expectations on availability

  • Coordinate and communicate closely with Service Management Operations during all unplanned outages


Mandatory Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Advanced degree preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field

  • 20+ years of experience in networking/technology; 5+ years leading as a manager of managers

  • Excellent knowledge of appropriate network technologies and network applications (e.g., SIP, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN setup, SDWAN, routing protocols, e.g. BGP, wireless designs, and routing)

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging network technologies, public cloud networks and how other IT enterprises are employing them with a proven track record simplifying complex environments

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a plan that ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and that employees are highly engaged and satisfied

  • Experience with Cyber Security, SOX Compliance, PCI and Data Privacy (GDPR) is preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational, management, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to influence technology strategic vision, understand business priorities, deal with ambiguity, and operate in a highly matrixed organization structure

  • First-hand experience implementing organizational change to migrate to an agile / cloud environment

  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate to all levels in the organization including executive leadership team, peers, and staff
